Parisa Rahimian MA, LMFT
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with specialization in holistic counseling. I enjoy working with children of all ages and teens to help them overcome their struggles. I believe my years of experience working with kids and their families, as well as having first hand experience as a parent of an intense “Atypical” child has given me a deep understanding of how difficult life can be when children are struggling. These experiences has also shown me over and over again, that once the needs of the child and family is met and the right strategies are identified and used, a more joyful and fulfilling life is possible. I have a master degree in counseling psychology with a holistic specialization. Being a holistic therapist means, addressing the physical, mental, and emotional person as a whole, and their relationship to the world around them. In holistic Counseling, treatment is not just about looking at “symptoms” and finding the right “diagnosis”, but seeing the whole child as a unique person with strengths and weaknesses. My job as a therapist is to draw on the strengths of the child as well as give them tools and skills they might be lacking. I have experience working with children and teens in school settings, at their home, as well as in the office. Parents are a very important part of my treatment approach, as they know their children and their needs better than anyone else. Part of my job is to guide and empower parents to better help their children.
I have found play therapy to be the most effective way of working with younger children, as play is the natural language of children. I also have a special interest in working with intense, "hard to reach" teens, and have had great success with that population in my practice. My approach is to tailor my treatment and sessions to each client's specific needs. I look forward to helping your child and family find strategies that would bring a positive change in you life.
